2017 European GromSearch Series Stop #7 - Peniche, Portugal

The international beach of Supertubos, stage of the Portuguese stop of the WSL Rip Curl Pro Portugal and the 2017 EuroSUP, consecrates the winners of the Portuguese edition of 2017 Rip Curl GromSearch, which this year had two stages, Costa da Caparica and Peniche.
The Portuguese representatives for the European Grand Final were shown in Peniche, two in each of the Under 16 Women's and Men's levels, one in each of the Under 14, Women's and Men's and Under 12 levels.
It was two long days of intense competition with 94 youngsters fighting for the tickets to the European Grand Final, which was the # 7 stop on the European leg of Rip GromSearch

It was great to see the kid surfing Supertubos, the place where in 3 month time will welcome the MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal. Rip Curl has been our partner since the founding of our club in 2000. Supertubos provided excellent waves and high scores to young surfers. In 2018 we hope for everyone again, with some news. "
In the category of the girls and in the Under 14 level, Gabriela Dinis confirms the good result obtained in the Costa da Caparica stage and takes of defeated its adversaries, Benedita Teixeira second, Beatriz Carvalho third, Marta Madeira fourth and Maria Leal Chaves fifth classified.
At the under-16 level, Mafalda Lopes confirms her excellent competitive year and wins the competition, relegating Matilde Passarinho to second place, the two athletes from the local Peniche Surfing Clube Carolina Santos third and Concha Balsemão fourth place. Giovanna Branco was fifth in this final of five surfers.
This situation left Matilde Passarinho and Concha Balsemão tied for the second place for the big European final of Rip Curl GromSearch, by summation of the points with the Costa da Caparica stage, reason why the organization decided to do a supplementary battery of 15m for the tiebreaker.
Matilde Passarinho was the winner of this tiebreaker and thus includes the list of Portuguese representatives in the great European final of GromSearch.
In the men's category and in the Under 12 level, Santiago Graça configured the victory of the first Portuguese stage and was the great winner, with the local athlete Matias Canhoto second, Francisco Ordonhas third and Salvador Costa with the last place on the podium.
In Under-14, Martim Nunes, who had been second in the first stage, stamped his passport to the great final in Europe with this win, with Tomás Gonçalves in 2nd place, Sacha Garcia in third and João Mendonça in fourth.
In the Under 16 level, Guilherme Ribeiro won the competition, leaving Martim Paulino with second place, Afonso Antunes was third and Jose Maria Bruschy fourth.
