Rip Curl GromSearch - Los Locos (Spain)

Three days in "Los Locos - Suances" that have gone a long way in this edition of the GromSearch 2023. More than 115 competitors from all corners of Spain have made everybody vibrate during this weekend.

With very good conditions every day and especially Sunday in the queen category, SUB 16. The best combo-heat of the entire championship, a prize awarded by "Oakley", has gone to the hands of Oinatz Ortega, 14 y.o

This time around, the surfboards test center was run by the Cabianca family. The Europe based company “Cabianca surfboards” is famous for being the official shaper of former GromSearch’s champ – and now 3 times WSL World Champ Gabriel Medina. The blades did not see the rack for the whole afternoon, and everyone made the most of the performance boards and FCS fin sets in beautiful sunshine and crystal-clear water.

The Health and Sports Recovery and Performance team were also present onsite, helping the young athletes to release tensions and pushing them to look after their body.

Finally, the beach commentary was driven by no other than Robbie V from the Insta famous “Let’s speak English” company, in both Spanish and English to train the competitors to the international stage.

Rob has been supporting Groms from Spain by training them for their English speeches with surf industry specific language and expressions.

Oakley gifted the surfers courageous enough to come in the commentating area to get interviewed with an Oakley pack. The anticipation was high throughout the whole event to see who would win the Oakley Highest Heat score total reward of 500€ off their next flight.

Pura Vida had all the girls spoiled with their wavy rings and bracelets.

See you in the European final ( Anglet - France August 19 and 20 )!
