What To Pack For The Snow?

16 December 2017

It’s time to find some fresh powder!

Well, it’s that time of year again – the snow is officially everywhere, the temperatures have begun to be close to 0°. It’s Winter down Here.

Which, for those of us who chase powder, means it’s time to start thinking about heading north with some snow gear – Japan, Canada, Austria, France – you name it, we want it.

If you’re one of the above, chances are you’ve already booked tickets, waxed your board or skis, and psyched yourself up to draw some fresh lines in foreign countries.

But there’s one thing you might not have remembered. Snow, y’see, is a whole lot different up in the great Northern Hemi. It’s thick and it’s thorough, and for the most part, it puts our local mountains to shame.

Are you prepared for the cold? Are you prepared for the icy bite of the North? Are you equipped with ski gear, snowboard jackets and more? If not, here are a few snow wear items you should probably look into grabbing before chucking your bag on the plane and taking off into the big white.

1. Snowboard jackets, snowboard pants, ski jackets and ski pants

A lot of the outerwear we can use here in Europe just won’t cut it in places like Japan and Canada. You need the best of the best – the most breathable, and the most waterproof.

2. A base layer

Under every good quality outerwear piece, there is a base layer. For those chillier days, it’s a must-have.

3. A good pair of gloves

No park gloves here. You need the best of the best when you’re out in deep powder – there’s nothing worse than a set of frozen hands when you’re out for a long day on the mountain.

4. A neck and face warmer

One piece of snow we use a lot here in Europe is the neck warmer – with the icy wind chill, it’s an absolute must.

Now all that’s left to do is hop on that car, bus whatever you want, and enjoy some fresh lines in our beautiful european ski resorts...
