Rip Curl x Farm Rio : the summer surf collection mixing style and performance, according to Maria Eduarda Cesar
Let’s talk about the Rip Curl x Farm Rio collection! We spoke with Brazilian surfer Maria Eduarda Cesar, who can’t get enough of the pieces. The collaboration blends Rip Curl’s technical expertise with Farm Rio’s vibrant prints across apparel, swimwear, luggage, and surf gear, all rooted in a love for beach culture and sustainability.
At just 17, Maria Eduarda Cesar from Bahia is already making waves, aiming to qualify for the Challenger Series this year. “I debuted with Rip Curl two days after turning 15; it was the best birthday I’ve ever had. It has always been my favorite surf brand, so I’m very grateful to be part of this family,” she told us before answering our questions about the collection.
Hi Maria Eduarda, what do you like about the Rip Curl x Farm Rio collection?
Maria Eduarda Cesar - I think it’s incredible. The whole aesthetic of the classic surf style is really cool, I think that’s what makes the collection stand out, you know?
How do you think this collection reflects Brazilian culture?
Maria Eduarda Cesar - The prints strongly reflect Brazilian culture, as they feature many birds native to Brazil. I also felt that the intensity of the colors, and the way they were mixed conveyed a Brazilian vibe.
As a Brazilian surfer, how does it feel to see a collaboration between Rip Curl and Farm Rio? And to be part of it?
Maria Eduarda Cesar - I’m really grateful to be part of it. I mean, Rip Curl and Farm Rio are two amazing brands, especially in Brazil. Most Brazilians wear Rip Curl or Farm Rio (laughs) so I think it’s great to see that this new collection is proving very successful, not only in Brazil but also in other countries.
What are you favorite pieces from the Rip Curl x Farm Rio collection to surf in? Why?
Maria Eduarda Cesar - To be honest, all of them. But one of my favorites is the wetsuit, because as a competitor it’s really good for my heats. I also love the swimsuit with the floral print, I think it’s very beautiful.
What is your favorite item from the collection overall? Why?
Maria Eduarda Cesar - I think the swimsuit. I like to wear it when I have a heat or when I’m just free surfing, so I think this is my favorite.
Can you tell us about how it feels to surf in the Rip Curl x Farm Rio pieces? Is the cut, the material, and the support suited to your movements?
Maria Eduarda Cesar - I feel very comfortable wearing them to surf, and as for the other pieces that aren’t for surfing, I think they’re great. The material is very good, and they’re very comfortable to wear. All of my friends are wearing them now!
Is there one piece you especially love and would recommand to other surfers? Why?
Maria Eduarda - The swimsuit, I’ve been talking a lot about it, but it’s so good and I love it. I feel very safe and comfortable in it, and it also gives you more confidence when you go surfing because there’s no risk of your swimsuit coming off or anything like that.
